Carter is at a fun age. Very active, very talkative, and very inquisitive. The things that come out of his mouth sometimes make me wonder what kinds of things go through his mind while he's happily singing and playing pirates in the tub. He always seems to ask such profound questions while he is in the midst of some kind of play or engrossed in a show, that for the life of me, cannot figure out what he was doing or watching that made him think of such things. Sometimes he will say or will ask me if I remember a time when something occurred, that has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on with him at that moment.
Things I have heard out of the blue lately:
While in the grocery store: "Mommy, remember when Grandma and Grandpa came a stayed with Kelsey and me forever when you and Daddy went to Canada?" - he was 3 and how does he remember where we went for 5 days (forever for small children).
After eating dinner, I was in the middle of cleaning the kitchen, and he was making windmills while watching CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS: "Mom, will I die when I am grown up?" - never took his eyes off the windmills.
While driving to school one morning: "Mommy, why do Daddy's look at boobs?" - Was not expecting this one, especially while our carpoolers were still in the car.
Another carpool episode. He says to his friend, Payton who is the same age: "Payton, when I put on my underwear, I have to point my penis down before I pull them up all the way. That's the way your supposed to do it."
The really funny thing about this was that Payton just answered by saying so matter of factly, "Carter, I don't have a penis. I don't think. What is a penis?"
Of course Carter answers, "It's what you go pee with!" Mom changed the subject right there. I should of done it sooner, but it took me a minute to realize the subject matter of their conversation was not my imagination.
While making a cake together this week: "Mom, where does all the trash go after the men pick it up? Do they take it home?"
"What's the difference of a motor and a engine?" - This one I had no idea about!
So many more that I can't remember. I really should be writing all these down, but at this rate, Carter will remind me of them all sometime when he's mowing the lawn someday.

What Does Every Girl Want......
....for her SIXTH birthday? To go to the SPA of course!! Kelsey started planning her sixth birthday party the day after she had her fifth birthday party. Of course, it has changed many times. I always wanted to do a party at home for her and Carter and until now, I could never talk any of them into it. So far, they have usually preferred to have them out at various locations such as the gymnastics academy, a bounce house, and they even shared a party one year when Carter was so sick we had to cancel his.
Finally, I got my wish!! Kelsey came up with the idea of having a Spa birthday party. Since I had never thought abuot this idea before, I had much Googling to do on this topic. How in the world was I going to pull this off? And for 5 and 6 year old girls no doubt.
After many torturous evenings, Kelsey finally had her final VIP list. No more than 10girls made the cut - including her. No Boys Allowed!
I stressed and stressed and stressed about this party. Thanks goodness for such fabulous gals that helped me out and volunteered their time on a Sunday afternoon to become employees of Kelsey's Spa. Without them, many girls would have been waiting around (or getting bored and into things) while waiting turns to have all their treatments. Yes, ALL their treatments. Facials, makeup, mani's pedi's and even some dancing when all was done! It ended up being the most relaxing party I have ever put together. I just wish I had time to get my toes painted too.
What ever happened to clowns, ponies and face painting for birthday parties? Who knows, but if I were 5 and some one gave me a choice of nails or clowns, I know which one I would pick!

Happy Birthday Sweet Kelsey!!
