Little People, BIG Accomplishments

I figure as mom of two great kiddos and the only author/photographer/editor of this blog, I have earned certain braggin' rights.

This has been a weekend of great accomplishments. First, after 4 weeks of swim lessons, frustrations and many trips to the pool, both kids are now officially swimmers. While Carter is proud of his new diving skills and swimming the distance under water with no help, Kelsey had enough confidence to finally go down the slide all be her self!! No help from Mom or Dad from the side of the pool. After about a dozen times of strutting her stuff up those stairs and around again, she finally got pooped. The rest of the time she took it easy while practicing her freestyle and standing on her head. Not only are they proud of themselves, but seeing them be proud and reason to be is that makes parenting all worth it. So here's to my guppies!

Sunday brought light to a new day and more big goals in store. Kelsey asked me to show her how to tie her own shoe. While this is on our list of things to do before school starts, we had not yet made the attempt. I showed her only two times and she was a pro. I remember it took me about a week of practicing before getting it down. Such proud big sister she is. Even Carter was so proud of her, he even let her tie his shoes for him. Carter on the other hand, was super proud of his accomplishments of finally drawing a super size fan that really looked like a fan. The things we take for granted as grown ups are so huge to them. Watching them working and not giving up, and bask in the glory of their newly accomplished skills puts everything into perspective. So Proud of my little people!!
